Dossier Perfume Product Review

Updated: May 10, 2021

Part of any good self-care/ getting read routine is smelling good! Something about finding the right fragrance is just so self-expressive. I personally love luxury fragrances, but I do not necessarily love the price tag. B has always worn Gucci or Versace cologne and while he definitely smells amazing, I am over spending $80-$200 on a small bottle of fragrance every few months! I recently stopped buying perfume for myself altogether because it just seemed like such a waste at the moment. But I did really miss wearing a great smelling perfume that lasts all day. That's why when Dossier reached out to me and asked if I would like to try their fragrances I was so excited!

*This is not a sponsored post, I did receive these products as a gift, however, Dossier did not ask me to write about the products. I just really enjoyed them and wanted to share my personal opinion of the products/company with you! :)

As you know if you have read my posts before, I really like to do research into a product before I use it, and definitely, before I recommend it to you! What first really impressed me about Dossier was their honestly in how they create their fragrances and the transparency behind the pricing. Did you know that on average perfumes only cost about $2 to make? I mean I totally understand that a successful business has to make a profit and everything, but honestly, it just seems like you are paying for a name at that point. I'm not about that, especially if you can get the same quality for less. Dossier also seems to strive to be as green as possible. They say on their website that "We pride ourselves on being a clean, vegan, cruelty-free perfumery that is dedicated to quality and craftsmanship." It also mentions that their ingredients are "Cleaner than the “Sephora Clean List”, our perfumes are sourced using the highest-quality ingredients. We follow both U.S. and U.E recommendations when formulating our blends, and we NEVER test on animals." Because of their commitment to staying green, Dossier has also reduced their plastic use by discontinuing the use of perfume samples. If you do not like the scent you purchased, you can simply return it for a full refund, no questions asked! I was also drawn to the clean, minimal design of their packaging. It really does look lovely displayed with the rest of my skincare and such.

There are so many different fragrances to choose from! I was overwhelmed because they all sounded so good! With bottles starting at $29, you really could buy quite a few for the amount you would have spent on a luxury brand. I first selected the designers whose fragrances' I like, and Dossier recommended the perfumes from there. You can also search for fragrances by olfactive families (the specific scents you like - musky, spicy, floral, etc) or take a quiz to be matched to the scent that will fit you best! For myself, I chose Fruity Jasmine (inspired by Tom Ford), and for B I chose Fougere Bergamot (inspired by Versace's Dylan Blue).

Right away I was super impressed with the product. I could smell them before I even opened the package! My mailbox even smelled good! I liked that they seemed to use as little packaging as possible and there wasn't any plastic. The perfumes are 50 ml and would have cost me about $60 for both of them.

The fruity Jasmine has top notes of mandarin oranges, green leaves, and sweet pea. Middle notes of jasmine, ylang-ylang, champaca, and peach. Base notes of sandalwood, plum, musk. I love Jasmine but am not overall a huge fan of super floral scents, they make me nauseous. That is why the jasmine mixed with more fruity and musky tones is perfect for me! Sandalwood is another scent I adore, and the green leaves smell helps keep the scent more bright! The Fougere Bergamot has top notes of bergamot, grapefruit, fig leaf. Middle notes of geranium, lavender, aquatic accord, and finishes with base notes of tonka bean, patchouli, and ambroxan. All I can say is it makes him smell delicious if you know what I mean ;)

After a few days of wear, I was even more impressed. I mean this stuff lasts all day! I can even still smell it on my clothes the next day. B (who is very picky and can be set in his ways) was definitely impressed and was so impressed with how good he still smelled even after working all day. I think it is safe to say we will be making the switch to Dossier Perfumes from now on. There are several other scents I am dying to try, plus Dossier is constantly adding new fragrances to their collection!
