Date Night in Columbus, Ohio: Bicycle Spin Art and Jasmine Fusion Grill

Updated: Apr 30, 2023

If you are looking for a new and exciting date night idea or a fun family adventure, Bicycle Spin Art Columbus is the perfect interactive art experience for you! Located where the Brewery District meets Germain Village on South High Street, a beautiful place to walk around on a late summer evening. After your art class, you will definitely want to dine at the Jasmine Fusion Grill conveniently located just upstairs. You can also enjoy a drink at the bar on the main floor, and maybe try your hand at axe throwing while you’re at it!

B and I decided to take the 6pm class. When we arrived, we were easily able to find street parking in front of the building and also noticed a nearby parking garage. Inside on the main floor is Columbus Axe Throwing and a cute rustic style bar, where you can wait for the spin art class to start.

I wasn’t sure how intense the class was going to be, so I wore athletic clothing that I didn’t mind getting paint on, but the class was actually super relaxing. They also provide coveralls and boots to protect your clothing if needed. Each person can select either one large, or two small canvases. We decided to get one large canvas and work together to create our masterpiece.

The instructors will show you how to make different designs and suggest paint color combinations. I chose my favorite colors, pink, green, and purpleish blue. There are also stencils and glitter you can use to really unlock your creativity!

The canvas attaches to a wheel that is powered by you pedaling the bike, and you can go at your own pace while cycling. B and I took turns being the artist and the cycler. I was really happy with our combined effort! This is also a great family activity. The other group that was with us was a family with several small children, and they seemed to also be having an absolute blast! It would be a fun activity for a bachelor/bachelorette party as well.

Now I am obsessed with creating spin art, and I cannot wait to come back and also try their blacklight spin and paint class!

Once your artwork is complete, you can put it on a special holder that is provided so that it can dry. There are also drying racks upstairs in the bar/ restaurant area so your project can continue to dry while you have some more fun.

Look how pretty our painting is! We will be displaying it in our yoga space at home.

After the class we had worked up an appetite, so we headed upstairs to the Jasmine Fusion Grill. I have always loved Indian food, and eating it instantly takes me right back to my childhood. South Asian Indian cuisine is one of my favorites so I was very excited to eat here. I got the grilled shrimp with rice, as I wanted something on the lighter side. B got the NY style lamb gyro and rice. He doesn’t typically go for this type of food, but he loved it and wants to try more from the menu! It was all incredibly delicious. The shrimp was grilled perfectly and the lamb was very flavorful and tender. I will be going back to eat here when I have more time to sit down and really enjoy a large meal. I cannot get the chicken tikka masala out of my head, and need a mango lassi asap!

I cannot recommend this experience enough and hope you get a chance to try it soon. In addition to Columbus, Bicycle Spin Art also has locations in Chicago, and will soon have locations in Dallas, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and D.C.
